7 Novels for Summer Reading

I was tempted to label this collection “Beach Reads,” but how often are most of us actually on the beach, even in summer? So instead, here’s a collection of novels to relax with, whether you’re at the beach, by the pool, parked in a lawn chair, or flopped in front of the fan. Get a tall cold drink to go with your new book, and just chill.

I’m reading this one right now, and it’s a humdinger. We have a deeply layered protagonist who is also a partially unreliable narrator. Mix in issues of class and race, along with a deeply disturbed family tree–I just can’t put this thing down. A full review will be up soon.

Meyers’ novel is incisive, funny, and ultimately empowering. If you have ever struggled with body image (for example, if you are female and have a pulse,) this one’s for you.

Quirky and very entertaining; Marriage by kidnapping, sort of. I’ll have a review for you soon.

Powerful! I’ve read other books since then, but I’m still thinking about this one.
How hard do I love Joshilyn Jackson? When a pushy new neighbor brings trouble, Amy Whey gives it right back in spades.;

Turtledove is witty and irreverent; this title will be on a banned book list before you know it
This one just cracked me up. Hugely original. If you are looking for something a little different, this might be what you need.
